These gates were designed to be evocative of the Arts and Crafts era. The customer had a very keen eye for era-authenticity, design-detail and material choice. The seasoned oak is all beautifully figured and is from Whitney on Wye saw mill. Who in our opinion offer the finest quality seasoned oak (as well as many other species). Each Mortice and tenon joint is draw-bored and pegged in the traditional manner. There are no screws or bolts in the gates other than those which are needed to attach the gate ironmongery, which was also designed and fabricated in the Whittle workshop using reclaimed Victorian stock.
